WAIMEA — West Hawaii Mediation Center, along with the Department of Education, is offering a free one-day Restorative Practices Foundations workshop open to the public from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. this Tuesday at Mana Christian Ohana in Waimea. It will provide an overview of restorative justice principles and theory, restorative practices in schools, implementation guidance and a review of resources.
WAIMEA — West Hawaii Mediation Center, along with the Department of Education, is offering a free one-day Restorative Practices Foundations workshop open to the public from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. this Tuesday at Mana Christian Ohana in Waimea. It will provide an overview of restorative justice principles and theory, restorative practices in schools, implementation guidance and a review of resources.
Two additional workshops for school administrators will be provided Aug. 24 and 25 at the same times and location.
Attendees will learn more about how this will be implemented in schools, the types of techniques used and how it will benefit Big Island youth. Anyone who works with children and youth is welcome to attend the session.
Restorative Practices is an approach schools can use to improve school climate and reduce discipline disparities. Lunch and snacks will not be provided.
